Irene was 9 in 1921. Here she is, second row, fifth from the left. She rarely smiled in photos, and had a characteristic tilt of the head to her right. Note her erect back.

If Irene was stern, Ross was invariably grinning. Here he is aged abot 6, say, in 1922.
